Born just north of Detroit, Michigan, Jonathan Michael Rock is an author, economist, historian and philosopher dedicated to the cause of liberty. As the founder and author of Paradocracy.com, Mr. Rock draws on his extensive research and his personal experience in fields both public and private, ranging from the armed forces, subsidized housing, real estate, and social work to financial services, business intelligence, and the mortgage industry.
Apart from his career, his endless research and the hundreds of articles he has written, Mr. Rock is an avid adventurer, traveler, musician, athlete, mountaineer, Civil War reenactor, chess enthusiast, and collector of historical artifacts and Americana. Proud of his American heritage and way of life, he spends his time with his family on his ranch in the shadows of the Sierra Nevada, usually donning a Stetson. In all of his writings, his objectives are clear: to advance the cause of liberty, to resist the tides of tyranny, to discover and deliver the truth, and, above all, to leave his heirs and posterity better prepared to defend and exercise their inalienable rights.
Mr. Rock launched Paradocracy.com in 2014 to unearth the truths of history, philosophy, and economics, and, above all, to pursue answers to the most pressing questions facing humanity. The website’s name honors man’s timeless struggle against the contradictions of dominant institutions and ideas — not least among them, the paradox of ‘democracy’.
Mr. Rock published his treatise Death by Socialism in 2024; in 2025, he published his work Fischer: Tortured in the Pasadena Jailhouse (featuring the Morals of Chess by Benjamin Franklin).
